For the second summer in a row I checked out the ABK windsurf camp, this year I went to the San Luis reservoir location. Camp is alway entertaining, it's run by Andy Brandt and he adds a good dose of humor. I wasn't that excited when I arrived, late thursday night after getting lost on a dark highway. I knew the forecast wasn't great, possibly no wind. Andy talked me down from my neurotic worry about no wind.
Even though there wasn't much wind all weekend, I learned a lot from the guys, they're damn good teachers and break everything down to it's simplest elements, a skill I lack. I got a few pivot jibes and maybe 1 or 2 tacks by the end of the weekend, which was why I landed at camp in the first place. I'm so tired of dropping into the bay every time I want to turn.
