green bits - how to create less plastic waste

1. bring your own bags to the store, this includes re-using the clear plastic bags you put your veggies and bulk items in. Some stores even give you a small discount for doing this!

Who cares if you put broccoli in a bag that you used for spinach last time? You can even buy this nifty bag drier if you want to wash out your bags: bag dryer

- save the plastic bag from your loaf of bread and use that for veggies and bulk food at the grocery store
- buy cheap canvas bags to use for veggies and bulk food

2. Don't buy tupperware! Re-use large yogurt containers, margarine tubs, glass jars (mayo, peanut butter, etc) for leftovers. You may have to use a couple to fit everything.

3. Re-fill when possible, save plastic containers for laundry detergent, shampoo, dish soap, liquid hand soap. Bring to the store and re-fill, easy!

4. Bring your own coffee mug to the coffee shop, some places will even give you a small discount! Don't take the cardboard sleeve they give you, the cup is rarely so hot that it will burn you. I usually switch hands a lot to avoid that.
